We are glad to announce that our new 1-hour live album, Poly: Subway System (Live in Shanghai 2024), has officially been released.

This record is a document of a very specific moment in time. It captures our full set at System, one of Shanghai’s most vital underground music spaces. Unbeknownst to us as we stepped off the stage that night, the venue would permanently close its doors not long after. Because of that, this recording has unexpectedly become a living, breathing archive of a physical space and a crowd energy that no longer exist.

The concept for that night was built around a subterranean transit theme. The entire main room of System was physically transformed to mirror the interior of an industrial subway train, trapping the audience inside a moving capsule with us. Musically, we mapped out a 12-track cinematic arc designed for that environment. The set features 7 brand-new, previously unreleased works that we had been testing out.

For the gear and sound design enthusiasts: the entire performance is heavily anchored by expressive, tactile hardware synthesis. Dominic Au (co-designer of the Hydrasynths) spent weeks shaping, modulating, and performing these custom patches live on stage. There are no generic presets here—just raw, physical electronic architecture that pulls from synthwave pacing, drum & bass weights, and heavy techno structures, all tied together with an overarching soundtrack feel.

The physical venue is gone, but the frequency remains.

Thank you for listening and for keeping this scene alive with us.

Poly: Subway System (Live in Shanghai 2024) is now streaming and available for download on Bandcamp and all major platforms.
